Its great to have some new white belts in class. It gives us all the chance to train and practice the fundamental principles of Hapkido. No matter your belt or level, there is always something more to learn about every movement in Hapkido. At Pittwater we encourage training with ‘a beginners mind’. This concept is spoken of frequently in Zen Buddhism and refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions -so we train even at an advanced level as a beginner would, with enthusiasm always to learn more.
Master Brown instructs with dedication to creating a solid foundation of basic movements, techniques and principles. Everything else builds on this training. The other great thing about hapkido is that no matter how simple the movement, it can still provide an excellent work out if you push yourself and train hard at it!
Having new white belts in class is a great opportunity to practice maintaining a beginners mind!
